SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — Springfield police arrested a wanted fugitive after a hit and run Saturday.
Police say they tried to stop a car going the wrong way on Pioneer Parkway at about midnight. The driver wouldn’t pull over and a pursuit started.
The chase went on to Highway 126 westbound and near the Valley River exit before the driver lost control and slid into a guardrail.
The driver still wouldn’t pull over, but officials caught up with him near Irving Road.
Officers learned that 39-year-old James McClain was a wanted fugitive out of Arkansas. He was taken into custody.
A passenger in the car was released without charges.
McClain is lodged in the Lane County Jail facing multiple charges including Hit and Run and Fugitive from Justice.
